Welcome to Apple Valley Orchards. Susan and I (John) purchased thirty-two acres in Oxford Texas, located 10 miles south of Llano on Highway 16, with the intent to plant an apple orchard. Highway 16, between Fredericksburg and Llano, is known for beautiful scenery and wildflowers and is well traveled by tourists and sightseers. From the top of our hill you can see Enchanted Rock, a geological granite formation, located in Enchanted Rock State Park.

We put in our first 300 apple trees in 2005. We planted an additional 200 plus trees since the initial planting. We planted the following varieties: Gala, Fuji, Pink Lady, Mollies Delicious, Red Delicious, Granny Smith,Crispin, Jonagold and Candy Crisp. Our harvest dates will be from late July through October. We also planted blackberries, peaches, persimmons, figs and plums, but on a much smaller scale. We will sell apples, pies, cider and other goodies made with sweet tree ripened fruit from the farm. Located on the property is a farm home where Texas Ranger Frank Hamer lived as a young boy. Frank Hamer is the Texas Ranger who was charged with tracking down and killing Bonny and Clyde.

We have honeybees to ensure adequate pollination and have honey for sale in the store.
