Yes we can grow apples in Texas . Apple Valley Orchard is owned and operated by John and Susan Caballero. John isn't as mean as he looks.
Check out our web site to learn more about Texas apples and our orchard.
In addition to apples, we have blackberries and a test raspberry plot. Stop by and see our pet Longhorns, Headie and Chuy, the gold fish (to numerous to name), the Texas Ranger former home site, and our storefront.
The web site features a sample clip of our “Texas Apples” video. Also look for nature video clips under the Apple Video button. Video clips include honey bees, Texas wild flowers, and wildlife.

Information on Texas apples
April 10
Fact: Texas apples are the first to ripen in the United States, around the first of August.
Spring 2010 is upon us. The peaches, pears, and newly planted apricot trees have bloomed. A freeze on March 22nd hopefully did little if any damage due to a spray application of seaweed, molasses, fish emulsion and compost tea. This brew is supposed to protect blooms up to five degrees below freezing. The apple trees are just now starting to bloom on March 25th.
We had a Texas thunderstorm that produced wind, rain and a little hail on March 24th. The thunderstorm left a magnificent double rainbow hat perfectly framed the orchard. Too bad I did not have a super wide angle lens. Check out the photos and our new video clips of wildflowers and honey bees.
We had a good winter--plenty of cold, rainy and cloudy days. We should have a good harvest, and the trees should grow well due to the abundant rains we received since September.
Please, no late Easter freeze!!

Apple Valley Store is open. We have apple cider, apple butter, homemade ice cream, handmade soaps, bees wax lotions and lip balms, essential oils and lots more interesting items. Texas apples will be available starting in September. We sold out of honey from last year so we are hoping our bees will work real hard this spring and summer. The store will be open Thursday through Sunday for the rest of the year except for the month of July. We will be closed the entire month of July. Happy fruit growing and eating.
